The Hemlock Student Sportsmanship Council (HSSC) has recently been established after attending the MHSAA Sportsmanship Workshop last month held on the campus of SVSU. A group of nine underclassmen [link to facebook photo] and a sampling of upperclassmen, under advisement by the Director of Athletics, Angela Pohl meets monthly. The purpose is to create then implement various initiatives to encourage and promote engaging and positive experiences at our Huskie athletic events. In that regard, HSSC maintains and upholds good sportsmanship in all initiatives and recently a student-led project produced a video so that our students can share the expectation with the Huskie community.
Our student section leader and future leaders are excited to continue past traditions and create new ones that we hope will be embraced by all Huskie fans. Critical to our game day experience is the talented pep band and fabulous pompon teams who keep our spirits high! With their help and at an assembly earlier this month, HSSC coordinated and demonstrated various chants, jingles, and in-stand activities for our student section. In addition, new game day promotions were introduced which include but not be limited to a layup, free throw, and 3-point contests, Gray Matters T-shirt blasts, and various other student-section antics.
As you may suspect, our students have established themes for our home varsity double headers and we encourage all fans to participate!

January 3 - Neon
January 14 - Hawaiian
January 17 - Jersey Day (any Jersey, any Team)
