The Hemlock Huskie 8th grade girls basketball team finished up a great season with 10 wins and 1 loss this Fall. Maylin Buckley and Sage LaVigne were great leaders on and off the floor for the Huskies with each of them scoring multiple 20+ point games and with notable defensive efforts as well. "The entire team has grown from their previous season with commitment to off season work, pushing each other in practice, and never settling for average. Their impressive season has high hopes for the future as 7 of the 11 players on the 8th grade team were 7th graders. These 7th graders rose to the occasion to better themselves with competing against the older opponents, and will all be a force to be reckoned with as they continue to grow their skills and basketball IQ" said head coach Abbi Brady. Coach went on to say, “I’m so unbelievably proud of these girls. They have shown grit, determination, and a love for the game this entire season. I can’t wait to see what the 8th graders go on to prove in high school, as well as the strength the 7th graders will come back with next year.”
Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, Scott Neumeyer shared his enthusiasm, "Congratulations to our 8th grade team on an outstanding season! You could see the foundation for this season being laid this summer when I saw the tremendous turnout from our middle schoolers at our summer workout program. They committed themselves to improving individually and collectively outside of their season, and that is where success during the season starts. Special thanks to Coach Abbi and Coach Vic for their tremendous leadership of the girls this season as well as Coach Kim and Coach Kylee who prepared them for their 8th grade season last year at the 7th grade level. The coaching staff and players represented our school and community at the highest level, and I couldn't be prouder of not only how they performed on the court, but also how they carried themselves off of it. The future of Huskie girls' basketball is certainly bright, and I look forward to seeing their continued development in the years to come!"
