Hingston

Hemlock Public School District is thrilled to announce the return of Janice Hingston, a retired and highly respected educator, to the Huskie Pack as a part-time District Instructional Coach. In this new role, Janice will work closely with teachers, focusing on mathematics instruction, classroom management, and professional development, primarily supporting grades K-6. Her wealth of experience will be invaluable in helping our teachers, especially our non-tenured staff, refine their skills and grow in their roles.

Janice’s career in education spans nearly four decades, including 25 years of dedicated service at Hemlock Public School District. Her journey began in 1986 as a student teacher at Hemlock Elementary, where she worked with Young Fives, Kindergarten, and Second Grade students. She later held positions as a Title 1 Teacher and Third Grade Teacher at AuGres Sims before returning to Hemlock in 1999 as a Title 1 Language Arts teacher. Over the years, Janice found her true calling in the fourth-grade classroom, where she spent the remainder of her teaching career until her retirement in 2024.

Janice’s ability to build strong, genuine relationships with her students and her dedication to nurturing the development of better human beings have always set her apart as an exceptional educator. Superintendent Don Killingbeck reflected on her legacy, saying, "It was always a pleasure to visit Mrs. Hingston’s classroom. She treated teaching as a calling and made a profound impact on hundreds of students, including two of my own children. Janice had a remarkable way of igniting the flame of learning in her students."

Janice’s return as District Instructional Coach demonstrates Hemlock Public School District’s continued commitment to providing high-quality education through teacher development. In her new role, she will work with both new and experienced teachers, offering the support and guidance needed to help them thrive in their classrooms.

Board President, Matthew Wesener, expressed excitement about Janice’s return, stating, "Janice’s expertise and dedication to education have left an enduring mark on our district. Having her back in a coaching capacity is a tremendous asset for our teachers and students alike. Her knowledge, passion, and leadership will continue to elevate the success of our entire district."

Janice’s interests in reading, swimming, biking, camping, calligraphy, and crafting have always enriched her teaching approach, bringing creativity and a zest for life into her classroom. These passions, combined with her vast experience, make her the perfect addition to Hemlock’s teacher development team.

As we welcome Janice back in this new role, we look forward to the positive impact she will have on both our staff and students. Her return highlights our ongoing dedication to fostering an environment where educators and students can thrive.
